We will be driving from Rome to Cinque Terre and would love some places to stop, particularly vineyards/wineries, along the way.
TIA!

Lots to chose from in Tuscany. The ride takes you near Montepulciano where they are famous for the vino nobile. Just north of Siena is the Divole winery. They have a nice tasting room with beautiful views of the vineyards from out of the windows. A little farther off the main highway is Montalcino where they make Brunello which is my favorite Italian wine. This is worth the slight detour. In downtown Montalcino there is an old medieval fort with a wine bar and Brunello tasting room in it. On a nearby hilltop is the St. Antimo Benedictine monastery where you can listen to the monks sing Gregorian chants in a 1000 year old church. The big winery near there is Banfi where the scenery is gorgeous. Another big one just south of Florence is Antinori. Lots of great smaller wineries. Casa Sola was one we went to. It depends how far off the highway you want to go.
