leveraging off earlier conversations about AI destinations, I've pretty much centered on DR in late April. Costco lists resorts at both destinations in the title and my first instinct is Punta Cana but can't really say why.
Pros and cons of one vs the other
Again, we'll be doing AI with wife and two kids (11 and 12) and duration will be ~5-6 days on site.

I lean more towards punta Cana because the airport is close to all resorts. Basically the same place give or take a couple things .

I’d go Punta Cana because cruise ships don’t dock there. Will keep your excursions and beaches free of extra people when they’re in port.

damn good point I wasn't aware of - sold on that basis alone!

haven't booked this yet, watching what's going on next door. I know DR takes a strong stance against Haiti but the situation seems to be building and could overwhelm their border
or at least that's my admittedly uninformed view

Always good to be safe but if those Haitians ever messed with tourism it’d be game over for them.
