I know the dining and destin stuff gets beat to death on the board so forgive me.
We will be there in a few weeks and do mostly cooking and eating in the condo, but I'm looking for two dinner suggestions. My son is getting into wanting to eat crabs a lot more and may want to try some fish he can't get easily in La, so what would be a place to go that has crab legs, blue crabs, and maybe stone crabs, etc.
I was thinking the Back Porch since that's near where we are staying, but I wasn't sure if they had anything other than just crab legs.

I haven't been to Sandestin in 5 years and was wondering which restaurant you would suggest?

For fishing, I'm wanting to take my little guy out on a simple bay trip to catch whatever. I've heard that it's horrible to get on one of the boats that has 20 to 30 people fishing at once so that's out.
After a brief web search, the only other option I'm seeing is the private charters which seem to be over $400. Are their any other options that I'm not seeing? Maybe jumping in somehow with a group of 6 to 8 or something, even if it ends up being in the gulf? Just looking for a 4 to 6 hour trip at the most.
TIA

Destin Inshore Fishing guides have gotten pretty outrageous at $450-500 for 4 hours plus tip, but the problem is its $400 to rent a pontoon boat for a half day. So that is a $15,000 boat without a guide for $400, the local guides are driving $75,000 boats plus their time and experience.

Your best bet is probably to do something like the Destin Princess or another one of the "party" boats that hold 55-60 people. There is AC inside, and you can generally book just a day or 3 away especially during the week. If you watch the weather and do this you can pick the best day seas wise for your kid to enjoy it the most. Those can be had for $55-60 for a 5 hour trip. That is by far your best deal.

ETA: The destin inshore guides area all about demand though. I have a friend that gets $500/ 4 hours and he'll do literally 2 5 hour or 3 4 hour trips 5 days a week over the summer. He's doing 250 trips a year at $500. So the price is absurd to me but the demand is more than there.

It's $275 for a half day (4 hrs) and $425 for a whole day (8 hrs).
