Is a trip to Death Valley National Park from Las Vegas worth the 2 hr drive? We have been to many NP but not Death Valley. Have a day we planned to relax by the pool but now thinking of making the drive to see the park. Thoughts?

What time of year? Winter and early spring I'd say yes. Otherwise it's so hot you're not really going to be able to do much except drive around.

I'd rather do Zion if you haven't been

You should wait, Death Valley is coming to Vegas beginning of September.

Grand Canyon and Bryce are other options.

Yeah you should go. We went a few summers ago and drove around the park, it’s pretty damn cool. You can see Mt Whitney from the north side so you can see the lowest and highest points in the continental US.

I usually get a hike in every March. DVNP has some of the most dynamic landscapes I've seen. The only downside about March is it isnt great for viewing the Milky Way at night
