I just moved here. Go to Eataly. Great food. Better than the one in New York according to a couple of people whove been to both.
Um, for bars and resturants, you migh want to stick to Lincoln park/Gold Coast.
The crime is definitely worse in the south and west of the city. I doubt you will have a problem anywhere else. Wrigleyville (the area where wrigley is) is known to be a bit wild and there is crime in wrigleyville but I wouldn't worry about it.
