I have an 8 hour layover in Las Vegas later this week. Can I easily leave airport?
Years ago this was not a problem, but I've not been in the situation in a very long time and can't find any official info. TIA

Yeah as long as you have your boarding pass you'll be fine.

We had a 9 hour layover in Miami once. The airport had a place where you could pay a fee to store your carryon luggage so we did that and took a bus to South Beach.
I think as long as you give yourself enough time to get through the security lines you will be fine.

Thanks. Last time I was in a similar spot where it was a massive layover and feasible to leave was probably 2004 in Chicago and I cruised around a few hours and came back.
Just curious if it's still possible

It has been a while but I had a long lay over in Detroit and went to see my daughter and had lunch with her. Just needed my Boarding Pass to get back in.

I do quite regularly (if it's like 2hrs or more at a large airport). But I have ID and Boarding Pass with me, so it's easier that way.

You're missing out on opportunities to see more by not planning layovers. McCarren is pretty easy to navigate and is pretty close to the strip,so you should be fine. I always recommend having TSA precheck, or even better, Global Entry. This can save you some time and you don't have to worry about missing your flight as much.

Had a 5 hour layover in FLL today and my gf and I went to the beach. We just checked our bags super early and Uber'd to the beach and ate lunch.
Much better than sitting around the airport.

should be fine in vegas
taxi to strip is about 15-20 minutes I believe so take that into account each way and plan accordingly
should be able to hit up a couple of places and see a few sites in that time frame, have fun
