I have played them all over the last 15 years, several times. The skinny: best bet for the average golfer is Craft Farms or Peninsula.
Previous reply mentioned Craft Farms. CF was my favorite for years, now it's probably Peninsula but you can't go wrong. CF has 36 holes. My personal preference is the Cotton course. Peninsula has 27 holes, Lake course is easiest.
There's also Kiva Dunes and Gulf Shores Golf Club (also, Lost Key to the east in Perdido).
- Gulf Shores is nice enough, not as scenic as the others but better rates. It was in good shape 2 weeks ago.
- Kiva can be fun, challenging, miserable, etc. depending on how straight you hit it, and how hard you care to grind out a round. Same for Lost Key.

Kiva dunes, lost key, peninsula...nothing noteworthy about craft farms imo...

My Rankings
Kiva (had my best ever and worst ever round here)
Lost Key (keep driver in the bag)
Peninsula (you should score well at this 27 hole layout)
Gulf Shores Golf Club (decent value but not at a Kiva or LK level of course)
Lakewood Country Club (yes, it is a drive but I believe worth it)
