BTR-ATL/ATL-LHR

CDG-ATL/ATL-BTR

I have both shots plus the booster; Negative PCR test (just in case...I know it's not required any more).

UK is pretty open now. Of course you need the vaccines and to fill out a few forms.

France is a bit muddled. The vaccine guidelines are either very stupid and arbitrary, or are severely screwed up in the translation from French to English. I may not be able to get in depending on which case it is. If not, I'll just stay in London a few days longer. I'm counting on the Tour Director to walk the group through.

I will report back to this group, but I imagine the rules will change not longer after I return. It's almost a daily/weekly thing.

When are you going?

I have plans for Paris but may cancel if I can’t get clarification on the time range for booster. Some interpretations suggest booster needs to be within the last 4 months. Others suggest no more than 9 months can elapse between vaccination and booster (which makes no sense)

I don’t want to get there and be told I don’t comply and therefore can’t go to restaurants.

I’m 9 months 2 weeks.

That’s why I’m concerned.

I’ll find out next week.

Have a great trip.

I love London but I would make every effort to get to Paris. The Eurostar is the way to go. It gets you from downtown London to downtown Paris in about three hours.

Go hang out at the new F SkyClub. Depending on how long your layover is, you can also sneak away to the Porsche Experience Center across the street and take a car out on the track.

First leg to ATL was good.

Two seat row to myself.

Now putting down free food and drinks in the Delta Sky Club.

*The girl just poured me a triple vodka because I was wearing a LSU shirt.

Safe travels. Very curious on how the vaccine pass and pharmacy visit goes in Paris. Your comments may convince me to cancel my trip for the end of March.

So, it’s almost 24 hours later and the goddamn hotel didn’t have my room ready this morning. So I went out, took the tube, and looked at shite…Big Ben, Parliament, Westminster Abbey, the Eye, etc. Westminster Abbey was really cool.

Then I hit a wall. Came back to the hotel and the room still wasn’t/isn’t ready. (“Check in is at 3, sir” ). So I went to the bar, sat in a chair, and promptly crashed. Woke up about 40 minutes later to some 30something Brits giving me the business. “Wakey wakey” “Oh look, he’s about to fall over”.

But I didn’t get mad. I owned it and we all had a laugh. No biggie.

Still waiting. Need just a couple hours sleep, then I’ll go hit a pub for some football and grub.

FWIW, a bit late now, Hilton has always given us a room to crash when our room is not ready. We can nap, shower if we want to. If we leave to go out we leave our bags and they move them to our room when it is ready.
If you are in Mayfair the Kings Arms is a great pub. It is on Shepherds Market Street.

Nice trip

My girlfriend is planning a trip this summer with her parents. Wondering about impacts of the Ukraine russia war but I figure it’s too far from Italy and Switzerland to impact them.

Few ways to get around this. Number one, if you ride the HEX downtown from LHR, grab a full english breakfast across the street from Paddington at any number of cafes (greasy spoon types). It will help.

Number two, if you can't get your room, buy a 1st class train ticket on Great Western for an evening train to somewhere cheap. The Paddington station 1st class lounge is off track 1 and has private showers, overstuffed chairs, coffee and soft drinks. It's a great place to overcome your jet lag and wait for a room to free up. A one-way afternoon advance-booking to Reading is 47 pounds. This is a cheap way to buy a few hours in a first class lounge with food and showers. If you're really cheap you can refund the ticket later, but that will depend on your moral calculus. For me the 47lb is a good deal.

Good idea on the lounge. We’re pushing any family Europe trips to next year due to vax bs etc…

Looks like most of Europe is removing all restrictions. Even France is backing off the vaccine pass mid March.

Do you have a source for that info abt vaccine passports being eliminated? I thought they were getting rid of the testing requirements but still requiring the vaccine (or booster within 9 months of travel).

France to suspend rules requiring Covid-19 vaccine passes on March 14

If you google “France Covid restrictions” you will find numerous articles from many sources all saying the same thing.
