Have had internet with them for well over a year and was paying $38 for 25 mbps. Well the promotional offer has expired and it dropped me to 6 mbps for $58.

Just got off the phone with a guy who was a complete arse about only being able to go down to $50 for 25mbps. I asked him why they had better deals for new customers than for loyal customers. He basically said i have the option to walk.

Is that the best deal i will find or should i try again later and hopefully get someone else?

Ask for retention then complain. They usually keep customers happy.

I can tell you first hand that when it comes to internet, keeping you happy is something they do not give two fricks about. I doubt they give one frick, because:

It's a little different with cable, because satellite is a legit competitor, but in many markets, nothing compares to cable internet still, and Comcast or Cox (depending on where you are) owns that.

If you threaten to walk and tell them exactly where you're going, they'll cut you a deal, even if the alternative you throw out is satellite or crappy WiMAX.
