I recently moved and there was only room for my computer in a different room than my bedroom. I like to listen to music when I go to sleep and just generally around the house.

Are there any speakers out there that can connect wirelessly to my computer where all of my music is stored? Don't think it'd be close enough for Bluetooth. Any decent Wifi options?

have you considered a bluetooth speaker? they have some amazing ones for around $100-$200 that you can pick up and move around the house with you.

as for everyting on your computer..just install google music on your phone (works for both iphone and android and its FREE) and it will sync up to 20,000 of your songs in the cloud aka you can play them from your phone or PC or your iPad, etc.

eta best part of google music is you can 'pin' some albums to your phone so they're always there even without wifi or data...or you can simply stream them via wifi (or data) so they don't take up space on your phone.

What's the range on those guys? Isn't it about 30 feet? I don't think that's going to cut it.

Hmm. I guess this would render the range problem moot as long as I've got my phone on me. Just seems like an unnecessary step with the phone and computer already on the same Wifi. I can already control iTunes with my phone over Wifi. I guess I'd just like to keep using that if possible.

With a bluetooth speaker or something like Sonos, you can play music from sources other than your local music collection (pandora, spotify, google music, etc)

I understand..but like the other poster said..going to your phone provides more options..you're using it as a 'remote control' now..just go one step beyond and use it as your music source..pandora..spotify..google music..itunes..iheartradio..youtube..whatever.

the only other option would be some type of speaker with wifi built into it but i don't see those around much since everyone is turning to their phone as their music hub these days.

eta if it helps, i have a bluetooth speaker on the second floor of our house and as soon as my wife pulls into the driveway it will connect and if she's on the phone, suddenly i hear her conversation

so some BT devices do have pretty good range..and some have shitty range.

eta2 - its a jawbone jambox. we have a 3000sq foot house (more like a square box) and we've never lost the audio even if the phone was left upstairs and we're outside on the deck.
