Windows 10 update causing some PCs to get stuck in boot loops

Apparently there's a Win 10 update that is causing issues where the hard drive is not recognized as a boot device. The only fix I have found so far with multiple clients running into the issue is to perform a reset of the OS (but you can keep your files)

If you don't already have KB4041676 installed (it doesn't impact everyone, but I've seen enough computers to know that it isn't super rare), then I personally recommend that you do the following:
Type "Update" in Cortana, and select the "Windows Update Settings". Scroll down, and select "Advanced Options" under Update Settings, and then scroll down to select "Pause Updates" which will pause updates for about 1 month.
Alternatively, you can disable automatic updates entirely in Group Policy.

Bit late now:
At the very least, it restarts okay (I guess).

It's not breaking everyone; I haven't had enough time to determine the common cause as I've been busy fixing the problem instead.

I’ve been dealing with this for a year
Computer keeps trying to force an update and gets stuck

Just went through this. I spent 6 hrs on with MS support, which I will say was better than I expected. Somehow screwed my RAID controller in the process. I've spent the last 2 weeks working with Intel to try and rebuild my RAID Array. Not there yet... T&Ps needed.

I will add, if it happens to you go ahead and contact MS, don't try and figure it out yourself.

Only problem I had after the 16299.15 update was that my VPN client (TunnelBear) and one other app would make my laptop go wonky with the screen starting to go black from top to bottom.
Did a reset and reloaded all my programs and everything has been running like a champ and boot time has been amazing.
ETA: I am in the fast ring on Windows Insider so I was due for a reset/clean install. Usually have to do one about every 3-4 months depending on how many updates there are in the timeframe.

We have Windows 10 on 3 PCs and no issues so far with updates.

I find windows update has been basically broken for quite some time. Have windows 10 on 3 pc and update never works right.

It does appear to be more likely to occur if you're using the bitlocker option in Windows 10.
