I'm in the middle of downtown Chicago in an apartment. Tv is 10 feet from window. I'm assuming I'm very very close to being he towers.

I don't think you'll need amplifiers if you are that close in fact they could hurt the reception. Honesty I would buy 3-4 antennas and try them out and take back the ones you don't want to keep. The reason I say that is a $10 one might work perfect and you'd problably not go to Best Buy and buy the cheapest one off the bat.

Mohu Leaf - this one mounts on the window and works great. sounds like best option for you and they're available at best buy. i bought some random $10 one from best buy and didn't pick up shite. Mohu Leaf worked right when i plugged it in before i even put it on the window.

Mohu Sky - more heavy duty

ClearStream - more more heavy duty

You know, I just bought the cheap bunny ears one and it seems ok. Time will tell.
