Water damage to phone

Dropped my phone in water over the weekend. It is now at the repair shop. It still rings but no display. The repair tech replaced the screen but it still didn't work and is going to check for damaged wires.
Does my phone have a chance? Is there anything else to check out? It is a Samasung Galaxy s5.

It's probably toast. Best thing to do is power off, remove battery if possible, and place in a bucket of rice or better yet silica beads if you have any lying around.

Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis The Wise?

This thread reminded me of a time I went parasailing. Some dad went up after us with his kids and his DLSR camera. Granted, it was kinda stupid to take an expensive camera up in a parasail but the dad made sure the boat driver knew he had it with him. Well the driver forgot and dunked the dad and kids in the gulf.
Driver apologized and told the dad just to put the camera in a bag of rice as if rice could remove saltwater.
side note, surprised there aren't more accidents parasailing and shite from the potheads those companies hire to operate. Now that I'm older I don't think I'd let some idiot drag me behind a boat 150' in the air.

Did you try putting it in a bag of rice? (serious question)
I always thought that was BS, but a few years back I tried it and it ended up working.

yes, I put in rice right away and when I got home I pulled out all the silica packs in my vitamin bottles and put them in there too. The phone still has some function so I am trying to see if it can be saved.
