So before I even try with everything digital with cox now and needing a box to watch tv. Is it possible to hookup another TV with a splitter and watch a different channel or would it just show the same channel on both TV's?

If coming from a box, same channel.

Going to show the same thing on both TV's. If you have an antenna though, you can watch CBS on one and one on TRU tv or whatever other channel.

That's what I thought. Damn digital cable. I think a few channels are still analog. If I get one splitter directly from the wall jack I can maybe pick up a channel that's showing basketball

Zero are analog since last week. So no luck there.

This tells me you should still get the basic stuff:

Without a DigitaLink, any TV connected directly to Suddenlink service without a digital converter box will eventually lose access to roughly 40 of the channels it currently receives. Depending on your service area, you will lose channels that start around channel 23 and can go up to channel 67. You will keep approximately 20 channels that are found in our Limited Basic lineup, but you will lose all Expanded Basic channels, like Disney, CNN, Lifetime, and over 40 other channels.

If you have a HD tv and an antenna you should be able to receive local channels.
I bought a $12.99 @ Best Buy and super Bowl Sunday my cable went out. I had to hook up the antenna to watch some of the pre game stuff. It was in HD as well.

If he has Cox, as of last week there are zero channels through the cable line without a box.

If the signal is digital, and the TV has a digital tuner, what makes the box needed for the basic tier?
