I have 4 Vizios. Only problem I've had is the remote on 2 of them. Some weird thing where they just quit working, usually fixed by unplugging the TV. Can be a pain, but the TVs themselves are fine.

the 32" vizio i bought for my kids is a piece of shite.
it routinely can't get an internet signal when other tv's and devices can in the house. I have to unplug the power from the tv and then it starts working again.
It's also somehow not compatible with my directv remote, which i find extremely odd and even more aggravating.

I contemplate ripping it off the wall and breaking it over my knee at least once a week.

That's my take on Vizio, with the limited experience i have with it.

I've had a Vizio for 6 years. Love it, great picture, have had zero problems. My Dad has a Samsung - better picture but twice the cost so all in all, the Vizio works really well for us.

There was an awesome 4K LG 55" today at BestBuy for $899. That and the M55 were my two favorite for the price range.

Is there a big difference in picture between these two?

Where Samsung and Sony will shine is with upscaling. There is still a dearth of even 1080p content (although that is a lot better over the past 3 or 4 years), with a lot of stuff coming through your cable wire (heck, most of it) being 720p. So, if you're buying a modern 4k set, the upscaling difference between Samsung (or Sony) and Vizio might be noticeable - even very noticeable.

However, in native resolution, Vizio provides - by far - the best picture for the money according to most objective reviews. So, it all depends on what you want and where your budget is. If size is consideration #1 - Vizio is likely to win across most of the models that big boxes will carry. I find Vizio pictures fairly bright and vibrant. All of the smart apps leave something to be desired - it is at this point where I will use something else (Roku or Amazon fire stick) and don't care about those distinctions, but Vizio's have been noticeably bad (albeit improving of late) in the first couple of generations of smart TVs. Their remotes get kudos for providing a full size keyboard, though.

I'm a Sony guy, generally, and Sony is probably better for movies, between comparable models, of course. Samsung and Vizio are probably better if sports and/or console gaming are higher priorities. It is more difficult to find sales on current Sony models and much easier to find good deals on Vizio.

It really comes down to what you are looking for as far as features and quality. I have been shopping for a new 65 inch for the past few months.
The Vizios had the worst picture out of the 4 models I examined.
The LG offer a good but not great picture. Many of their TV's images seem washed out compared to other brands.

It was a tough decision between the Sony 850 and Samsung 8500 series but the Samsung won it out for me because they support a bunch of the standards that the Sony does not. The Samsung also feature a connect box that can be upgraded in the future if new standards come out. The Samsung usually retails for $2999 but can be currently had for $1997. Pair that with a square trade warranty from Costco for $99 and you will be good to go for the long haul.
