How do you guys manage your in house 'techie' users? I have two or three guys that are always wanting upgraded this or that or the latest new gadgets even if they can't truly justify the business need and then pout about it for a few days when we deny them the request. I don't like looking like a fool to higher ups when I just forward on the request, so I normally just shoot them down and tell them if they'd like the upgrade go directly to the supervisor responsible for approval.

The latest request is for an airtame device, which sounds to me like an overpriced Chromecast.

Edt: I look like a fool to my hire-ups all the time

Why is this your problem if there is a "supervisor responsible for approval." Seems like all you need to worry about is passing it on for rightful rejection. If you wanted to be helpful maybe you tell them "That's pretty steep, maybe you'd have better luck getting a chromecast approved."

You should probably just let the hire-ups handle that.
