Tuning Amp with multimeter. Amp gain all the way up.

I'm tuning an amp using the square root of the product of the ohm load and the rms. Ac voltage should be 32.xx. Gain is all the way up and is maxed out at 28.xx. Is it ok to max out the gain? Sounds just fine but is this a strain on the amp?

Maxing out the gain is maxing out the amp, which is not good. It is probably clipping, but you can't hear it because your ears arent trained to. Walk away and you will hear it

Unless of course he wants to reduce his amp life.
