Always wondered if someone was gonna do that. It makes a ton of damn sense, especially if you have an unlimited 3G/4G account.
Back in the day I used to have a business plan written up for what I was calling a NAN - Neighborhood Area Network... it was kinda similar in that it would "bond" neighboring wifi's together and also use some other techs to push out broadband and haul it back through the NAN.
If i'd only had a few tens of millions, it woulda rocked.
/self-congratulatoryness

Could be big in some of the third world countries where you can slow wifi and slow phone data speeds.

Tech like this has been around for a while just not at the consumer level.

I was thinking the same thing..Most Cisco routers have this built in

Well bonding certainly has been around a long time... whats truly cool about this is the idea of bonding across a variety of carriers and delivery mechanisms.
It like the idea of idle cpu time being put to use for other functions....
Example, at my home I have 2 broadband carriers with 2 wifi networks.. Charter and Uverse. Then I have a family with 5 mobile phones split between Verizon and Sprint.
The idea of bonding all of that together in a fluid, burstable, "variety network" is pretty cool.
We could sit down as a family and stream a full HD movie in within minutes....
Take my NAN above and let me tap in to some friendly neighbors and it becomes extremely cool.
And very robust.
Hell the gov should just take it all over and make it free for erbody.
