Anyone else looking at this car or a fan of Tesla? I'm thinking of putting down a deposit tomorrow so I can to get a better spot in line.

I wonder what the increase in demand will do for Tesla's quality control. They are not known to be dependable cars and I can only see an increase in production being a bad thing for them right now.

In Colorado there is a $6000 tax credit, combine that with the federal $7500 and this car is $21500 for me

With a 7500 dollar federal tax rebate for the first 200,000 sold. This is there everyman car.... not their model s or x

Also the deposit is fully refundable till it ships at least a year and a half away

I'm not sure it's a quality control issue. I think the problems with the Model S are engineering/design issues, which often don't present themselves until MANY miles have been put on a car (or until miles have been put on MANY cars). I would have to assume that they've learned a lot of lessons with the S, and that many of the issues can be engineered and designed away (assuming a lot of the tech is the same).

I know many people avoid "all-new" models from any manufacturer, and prefer to buy models that are in their 2nd or 3rd year of production. This way the year 1 kinks get worked out, and it's before the year 4 and 5 cost-saving measures start getting put in.

Got to love Tesla's marketing.

Thats 35k after the 7500 fed rebate, possible state rebate, and their estimated gas savings.

Although nothing crazy, expect it to actually cost about 15k more.

No, Musk and Tesla have confirmed several times that the base price will be $35k before rebates, and I've only ever heard of estimated gas savings being factored into their lease program, not purchase prices.

This is still probably accurate, though only because the $35k model will likely be very stripped down, and buyers might opt for some upgrades.

Yes, it is. It's $35k BEFORE incentives.

Have you seen the car yet? Have any pictures of the Model 3 been leaked?

Wife and I are also trying to decide between the Model 3 and the Chevy Bolt and Prius Prime for our next city commuter car.

The model 3 won't be available until the end of 2017

Oh okay. I think that changes things. I believe both the Chevy Bolt and Prius Prime will be available later this year.

They are showing it for the first time this evening on tesla.com at 1030 central. It won't be available until early 2018 at the earliest.

I don't think the bolt will be a bad car, I just think teslas quality will be worth the wait. That and the supercharger network tesla has already and plans to expand make me think it will be the electric car to beat

Consumer Reports, the most trustworthy, data-driven outlet for reliability ratings on cars and everything else, just released its annual report naming the most and least reliable cars on the U.S. market today. And in a rather surprising twist, the Tesla Model S that Consumer Reports gave a better-than-perfect 103-point rating less than two months ago gets a "not recommended" thanks to what CR calls "declining reliability."

This may not apply to the Model 3 but I just don't see where the quality is coming from. I like a lot of what Tesla is doing but reliability is a real issue.

Yeah I've seen that as well, but Tesla seems to have amazing customer service and usually take care of issues immediately and at no cost to the customer.

They are still a very new car company.

Also I've seen 97 percent of tesla owners would re buy and are satisfied with their purchase.

The model s is a high end luxury car, it's harder to compare it to the base models of f others cars.

I have no idea but I'm trusting this massed produced model 3 will be a bit more reliable. And if not the refund on my deposit is available until the car ships
