With Comcast I am getting around 52Mbps download speed according to speedtest.net. The AT&T I am getting is "up to 24Mbps".

I have a Roku and watch a few HBO shows or movies, WatchESPN games and sometimes youtube videos.

Will I notice a big difference between the speeds? I still have time to cancel the installation and wanted to get a few opinions.

I just did the opposite, and am soooo happy that I switched to Comcast.

ATT said we were supposed to get 45 mbps, but always got 8-10.

XFinity is 75 mbps, and we are consistently around 50+

and they are upgrading pretty much nationwide to 250mbps and even 1gbps in some places.

dont get me wrong..i hate them more than just about any other company on the planet but i cant argue with how fast their network is.

I moved the installation back to Wednesday. I am waiting on Comcast to call back with an offer on internet and home security.

I also called AT&T and increased my service, if I get it installed, to the 75Mbps for an extra $10 per month.

Right now I am paying $83 for Comcast internet and $18 for Vonage phone service, so a little over $100 for both. With AT&T with the 75mbps and phone service it will be $59.99 for both.

If you actually get 20mbit connection speeds you should be fine unless you are doing multiple streams at once.

Netflix 4k is the top end for streaming and it is around 25mbit. Everything else will be 10mbit or less per stream

I have ATT's 24mbps plan and using their router as a passthrough to my Apple Airport Extreme (my own router), I generally get up to 30 mbps.

Anyways, it's just a number. I don't have cable and my wife and I generally have 2 TV's streaming Netflix and/or Hulu just fine on ATT.

You replied to me but think you meant the OP. I don't pay for internet phone. It's obsolete to me with cell phones.

ATT is awful, especially when it comes to those "up to" speeds. I'm paying for "up to 75 Mbps" but I hover around 20-25 usually. Not only that, but it drops constantly.

Bingo bango

We lived in a three story townhome and we were told that we would get the best signal if the router was on the third floor. We couldn't stream netflix on my TV from the 2nd floor.....

All depends on how close you are to their repeater box. I'm about 2 blocks away and my speeds are always BETTER than their "up to" speeds. I also use my own router and just leave there's on as a "pass through".

It is run through a modem that plugs into a wall jack. That is how my home security is set up. If I didn't have ADT I wouldn't have home phone service at all.

I hear with them it's all about how close you are to one of the hubs. But if that's the case, I would raged on the phone and likely left as well.

I was consistently below the 75 mbps I was supposed to be getting with Comcast and called, and it turned out they had my router model wrong in their system (allegedly). They fixed it and I am consistently in the 75-85 mbps range. I would call them, whatever the problem was, a call to complain fixed it.
