Couple things, or more. I had an older Amazon Fire TV in the other room and the wifi signal was terrible (known issue with the version prior to the latest) and could not get Tablo and Directv now to work with a lot of buffering so I was going to get something else.

I was waiting on the new Apple TV 4K which has come out and I looked at it vs the Roku Ultra and felt the ATV was priced too high. Best Buy has the Roku Ultra for $99 and I think that price point for a 4k w/ headphones and the processors was very good.

Have the Apple TV in the other room and DTN and Tablo are working great. Hooked up the RU and damn this thing is fast. Think Tablo app is better than ATV’s and faster and DTN is a tad faster but the TV guide shows more detail than the ATV. Like under ESPN it shows the game that is on

Anyway, just wanted to say this is a very nice box at this lower price point. Also, the remote is not IR so don’t need to point it at the box.

Wish I could re-program the app buttons on the remote to go to Table and DTN

I have the Roku Ultra and use the headphone jack that is built into the remote control almost every night. Great little feature.

We've had a Roku 3 for years, and just got an Apple TV last year free with DirecTV Now. We prefer the Roku because it has more channels and seems to crash less than Apple TV.

However, we've been using the Apple TV because DirecTV Now wasn't available on Roku until recently. The Roku 3 is old though and DirecTV Now runs faster on the Apple TV.

I would really like to go back to Roku as our only device on our main tv, but have been hesitant to purchase the Roku Ultra thinking that DirecTV Now may not run as smoothly as on the Apple TV.

In your opinion, changing channels and using DirecTV Now in general is faster on the Ultra than on the Apple TV? If so, that is great news and I'll be buying one soon.

My only complaint about the Roku Ultra ... when using the headphones with the remote, it sucks up some batteries and quickly.

Minor annoyance. Thankfully, Costco offers their Kirkland batteries for next to nothing.

Yep Yat, I think the Ultra has been faster in each app I have run. No measure against the new Apple TV. Only thing I need to figure out is we were watching the new Star Trek in Tablo app tonight and the volume was very low, had to crank the volume much higher than Apple TV to listen

I have a Roku stick and a Roku ultra. After experiencing the Nvidia shield I'll never touch this again.

Stick and shield free to a good home.

Who wants?

You mean stick and ultra free to a good home? Cause I seriously doubt you're giving away a Shield

I have personally used an AppleTV, FireTV box, Roku Premiere+ box, and Xbox One S for streaming, and the Nvidia Shield beats the ever living dog shite out of all of them.

Rechargeable batteries.

I use the hell out of the roku wireless headphones and after a couple of weeks, realized I needed to go the rechargeable route.

My one issue is you need to unplug the headphones when done or the battery is dead the next morning. No way to turn the headphones off other than unplugging them.
