Sling is ok, but your limited to one device at a time and the stream sometimes freezes up and lags. Before I bought a device to use it, I would wait until after Tuesday's announcement from Apple. They are releasing the new appletv, and a possible streaming service. Roughly 25-40 channels and $30-$40 a month. Supposedly can use it on multiple devices, and they will allow you to stream your local TV stations.

I find that hard to believe. Wouldn't they have to do a deal with every single local TV station?

Everything I have read shows the only way Apple will sign deals with fox, nbc, and cbs is if they allow streaming of local channels.

But I thought that was up to each local affiliate ? Not to mention that it means the affiliate has to already be setup for streaming.

The Sling TV being offered by Dish Network is the one to watch. Dish is already paying for the local stations and the program guide so they have no problem with streaming them. This service is separate and apart from their satellite business.

I was going to order sling but the one device streaming is a no go with a family of four.

They had a deal to get $50 off a roku or Amazon Fire TV (or free stick) if you paid for 3 months of sling TV up front ($60). If you were planning on getting either of those (fire TV will run kodi/xbmc, well worth getting) then it's only $10 to try sling.

That's what I did. We needed a fire stick for our bedroom anyway, so why not try Sling out for 3 months?
As for Sling, we like it and watch it regularly. Since it's just 2 of us the streaming on only one device doesn't bother us.

Same. It will be great as a cord cutter when the Walking Dead comes back. I added the sports package for 5 more bucks that includes all ESPNs and SEC Network so the only Auburn games I may miss in the fall will be the shitty PPV like ones on FSN. Also been cool to watch all the playoff Bball on TNT.

Just about as horrible a move they could have possibly made.
Its useless to every family with more than one TV in the country out the gate.

fortunately, i don't think many families with 4 or more cut the cord. i'm a family of 2 and it has been perfect for me.

bumped for those with additional opinions about Sling. Thinking about purchasing.

This sounds too good to be true. If this is the case, I'll drop ATT UVerse in an instant.
Although, no DVR and all so that'd kinda suck. I'd deal with it for a 50$ a month savings.

This kills Sling TV and prevents it from ever being a viable option.

Correct. I've actually read that it's not slingtv that enacts this rule. They're actually bound to this rule by ESPN.
So I've read at least.

So wonder if that means AppleTV would not have WatchESPN. That would be a killer for them
