Has anybody else had batteries die quickly? Installed on 1-5, brand new duracells. Today lock died. I thought that was pretty quick.

see I wondered. When I was setting it up the wink customer support lady told me my batteries were weak because of how close i had to set the hub for the initial setup. I grabbed them off a shelf at Lowe's when I bought the hub. Who knows how long they'd been sitting there.

I have thought that a wifi or bluetooth deadbolt was a dumb idea without it being wired into the house somehow since I first saw them. Anytime you run something like that on batteries, you are asking for trouble.

It has a key as a back up if the batteries die.

yeah. I wasn't insinuating that I was locked out or anything. Just couldn't use the code. The main thing I was trying to do was give the guy coming to install my shower door a temporary code. It was no big deal he's just gonna come Monday.

probably bad batteries.

however i used a dremel file to make ABSOLUTELY SURE the metal plate on the door itself was buttery smooth. nothing will kill a battery-operated door lock like a misaligned strike plate. while you may not notice (or get used to) the extra torque required to manually turn the lock, the battery will suck dry.

a sweet barely-any-force turn of the schlage lock should make it close. just because its super easy to turn-lock it doesn't mean its less secure.

i think sometimes people think its gotta "feel" tough to turn the lock to have a legit secure door but thats completely false.

the schlage lock should literally turn with virtually no resistance.
