S4 Wi-Fi issue

I have been having a problem with my Wi-Fi speeds being much less than other devices in my house, and I have no idea why. My buddy's S5 will get ~100/25 consistently, while mine sitting in the exact same spot gets 35/10. His laptop and my desktop speeds are similar to his phone speeds. My phone is the only slow one.
Happened on my old DIR-655 and now on the new RT-N66R, so I have narrowed the problem down to my phone. Obviously this is aggravating because every page I click on when using TD, I have to sit there and wait for all of the fricking ads to load while the screen jumps all around. The "enhanced mobile version" on other forums is like nails on a chalkboard....almost unusable.
Do y'all have any ideas what could be holding my phone back?

I don't have my S4 anymore, but I think wifi power save is on. Dial *#0011#, press the menu key, select wifi and disable power saving.

Can't do that on lollipop I guess. It just calls Verizon and says it's a bad number

was having wifi issues on my s6. had to go into my router and change the security to: WPA2-PSK + WPA-PSK

Mine is on WPA2-PSK. Changing it won't have any effect on my other stuff connected to the router? Seems retarded that I've got to change something that works fine on 100% of everything else except this one phone
