Report: Nintendo NX’s operating system will be based on Android

Interesting move. I've read that android is not great for developing games but they are also about to push more mobile so that may be the reason.

I am not an Android fan but I am a huge Nintendo fan and I think this is fantastic news.
Nintendo needs to do all it can to draw people to their platforms at this point. I love my Wii U, but it needs more games to be attractive to most. I don't personally care too much about third party games as most of the games I care about that aren't Nintendo titles are available on PC, but the platform isn't going to be viable long term if Nintendo is the only player on the console.
As I get older I don't have the time or inclination to play "serious" games. I like the lighthearted nature and lack of commitment required by Nintendo stuff. Not to mention I like the local multiplayer emphasis.

what they really need to do at this point is sell a Nintendo app on iOS and Android that would allow you to buy their classic games on your phone instead of having to tote around a gameboy. I would pay 25 to 50 bucks for the app if the games are reasonable.
