I am looking to replace my 5 year old MacBook. I do not see the need for the Retina Display and can save a pretty penny by leaving it behind.
My current computer:
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Early 2011)
2.7 GHz Intel Core i7
4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB
Compared to THIS
The one linked is refurbished and has a great price. What say yall?

Use one for 30 minutes and you can't go back. Not to mention the rMBP are thinner, lighter, and come with SSDs.
ETA: Expect new MacBooks in the next month or two. So the refurbs will probably drop in price.

I believe that non-retina MBP hadn't been updated since fall 2012 anyway and has since been discontinued.

You can still get them new from Apple, but yes, hasn't been updated since 2012.

So, any non retina is going to be at least 3 year old technology?
With new MacBooks coming out soon, current ones should drop a bit in price, maybe. Or are there any earth shattering updates it the new ones?

Use the apple websites Mac for education store. It's usually the same price as a refurb but brand new. Or just buy the Mac refurb from Apple so you can get apple care and not worry about anything going bad.
