Anyone know where I can download the Realtek HD Audio Manager Software? I have found several sites for the drivers but none for the software. TIA.

Last I looked, it's a single package at the RealTek web site. Even if they call it "driver only", the whole 100 MB pile of crap is included. Why do you need it? Unless it's to enable features like DD Live, it's superfluous and can destabilize your system. There's absolutely no reason for me to install it, as I connect it with optical to my AVR, and the built-in Windows drivers suffice.

Is Sound Recorder a Realtek program? If not, I'm not aware you need to install anything to be able to record.

From the research I have done, it will make it appear. It is not available in Windows 7.

FWIW, I have a Windows 7 x86 VM as well as an x64 physical machine, and Sound Recorder appears under Accessories for both. The shortcut points to:

C:\Windows\System32\SoundRecorder.exe

No Realtek drivers for me.
