Project - Installing Firmware on a Demo Unit Kindle Paperwhite

My local radio shack is closing, and they had some kindles for half off. I bought a demo unit paperwhite 2 and a fire HD. Fire HD is great.
The paperwhite has the demo unit firmware on it, so it really doesn't work properly. On top of that, the mfer is in chinese. But anyway, I knew it would be a project, and I got it for fun,.
I have to solder some wires to the "serial port" inside the thing. I have never soldered, and I was going to take a "short" cut (actually will take longer) and use wire glue. Is this a stupid idea? Should I just go back to that radio shack and get a soldering kit and learn how to solder?

I would definitely use solder not wire glue.

You shouldn't have to solder anything.
Give me a few days and I'll see if I still have the instructions at work.

I would say solder for sure. What are you trying to do?

I would say learn how to solder, but depending on how small the points are, it might not be a beginner project. To be honest, though, wire glue will likely be harder than soldering in any scenario. I haven't worked with wire glue before, but it sounds like a bad idea either way.
Got any pics of what you'd be attempting to solder to?

Here is a summary of what I have to do. Link included. The points are pretty small.
Anyone with a decent amount of soldering experience should be able to solder to those points. They are small, but there's a decent enough gap between them that there's little chance of creating a short and there are no nearby components to damage or get in the way.
I can't really speak to how well wire glue would work because I've never worked with the stuff. I would be concerned about creating an unreliable connection that would disconnect while in the middle of something important like writing firmware.
Interesting project though. I have been wanting a Kindle lately but can't justify spending the money when I never have the time to read. I might look around for a demo Kindle instead.
