Live out in the City of Central.. Can anyone vouch for their 4g service in the Central/Greenwell Springs area?
Also, an in store sales person tells me that at Tmoe you can upgrade your phone anytime you want even if you haven't paid off a certain % of the total phone cost -- (like verizon, which I am currently a customer) Is that horseshite or does anyone have experience with that ?

I worked at Verizon until yesterday. Took a job in the IT field with another company. Switched to T-Mobile the same day. I cannot attest to your area, I live in SC. T Mobile is blazing fast compared to Verizon where I live. Which shocked the hell out of me considering I live a rural area. Verizon would pull 8Mbps-15mbps. I'm slamming 40+mpbs on T-Mobile.
With the new extended range LTE band 12 TMobile is great. Much less network congestion than Verizon. There's a reason why Verizon had to implement streaming quality restrictions on their new unlimited plans after previously having none.

I have Tmobile but am in the New Orleans area so I cannot really answer the OP. I actually find that AT&T has less dropped call in the N.O. area but I was spending an extra 50$ or so a month with AT&T.
I like Tmobile though, pretty solid for the price point.

I can't comment on the OP's specific area but this is the most important thing with T-Mobile right now(until the 600Mhz rollout ramps up). If you have a newer phone which supports the proper bands then it can be fantastic.

I've tried them a few times and out of Sprint, Verizon, ATT -- I dropped way more calls with T-Mobile

Not anywhere close to you (north Alabama), but I switched last month to try T-Mobile. It was just not as good as Verizon. Spottier coverage overall and none at my wife's work.
It's worth a try though. So dependent on your specific situation.

Just so you know, after Harvey and Irma, Verizon's network was still up and running while all the other providers were having issues. Also, Verizon is hard at work putting together a 5g network.

Can anyone who has tmoe speak to how phone upgrades work ? I referenced in OP about being able to do it at anytime and not having to have to be "paid up" to acertain percent. Can anyone confirm that or atleast talk about the process when they upgraded ?

Verizon's new plans seem to be cheaper. My bill is $70 or so with a payment for a pixel and insurance. I do get 15% discount too. I think I was paying $95 before.

Just buy your phone from the manufacturer. They all do device payments pretty much, if you need to break it up.

Cell phones won't be 5G though.

I guess I better look for a new job then
I am actually currently testing TMO's 600Mhz configs in the lab. As well as small cells for LTE-A and something that won't be of public knowledge.
Unless you know something my CEO doesn't know. Cell phones will most def be 5G and part of IoT.

Hey 50 ,
What has to happen to rollout the new 600mhz stuff ?
Is it a software update ..or does the phone have to have compatible hardware ? Will certain phones get it faster than others ? Are they rolling it out nation wide or in certain areas and LASTLY, how will it change my life as a potential #teamMagenta guy

From what my understanding is and the exceptional pace of work right now TMO has an aggressive plan to lay 600Mhz ASAP.
These are new Remote Radio Heads (RRH's) that have to be installed on the site itself.
The phone must be able to read 600Mhz spectrum or band 71. There is currently only ONE phone that supports it (LG V30).
Oddly enough, the new iPhone X and 8 do not support Band 71.
600Mhz is low band frequency so you get better range and building penetration. This simply means better signal and throughput in the UL and DL. Along with 5G, TMO is making a real attempt to compete with Verizon and ATT in the rural markets where quite frankly its bad.
Newer phones that will come equipped with the new Snapdragon chipset will be able to see TDD and FDD bands including 71. Coincidentally, I wouldn't expect 600Mhz to be in public until sometime next year. So no need to run off and buy another phone just yet.
