I use a Shared Album to share good pictures with my family, and I'd like to export these to an SD card. I was able to use "Export" to do this in iPhoto, but it is grayed out in Photos App. Why am I unable to export the photos from my Shared Album? Is there a better way to do this using Photos?

Are they shared from your phone? Because you would have download the actual pictures to your Mac in order to save them to SD.

Is there a way to download the album from the shared photo stream? I was able to do this in iPhoto I'm not sure why it'd be different after the upgrade.

Highlight all and select import.

Import asks me to choose files in Finder to add to my Photos, not the other way around. Export is grayed out.

Select the photos you want to import and press "Shift + Command + I" or go to the file menu (with photos selected) and click on "Import..."

OP wants to export to a file system, not import.

He first needs to import the cloud photos to his hard drive.

I didn't see where the OP said his photos were in iCloud. I've encountered difficulty getting photos from iPhoto to a shared drive, myself. It's really clunky due to the closed apple ecosystem. They don't want you managing the actual files yourself.
