Odd Kodi problem, halp?

When the movie begins playing, the screen is blank entirely but the audio plays. And it doesn't respond to the usual previous menu button, you have to press home repeatedly and start completely over from the Amazon screen.
Started sporadically but now seems to do it every time or almost. Doesn't seem to be source or app (Exodus, Spectre, Salt) specific.

How old is the build of Kodi? Maybe upgrading to the newest TVMC build would help.

Will have to check. Installed it about six months ago. Is updating hard? Still learning the nuts and bolts on it.

If it's not Jarvis 16.1, LMK and I'll help you get Jarvis. The newest update is total crap.

Meh the newest update is by far my favorite. Probably has a lot to do with the new skin, but I really dig it oberall

I use Kodi on my PC, and I'm still on v15 "Isengard". Each release after that has fricked up video playback. Jarvis had levels issues with all the card manufacturers, and while Krypton fixed this for Nvidia at least, it added occasional stutters that require one to turn off DXVA2 acceleration. They've made no improvements that matter to me.

I changed the Krypton skin back to the Jarvis one, and I'm happy with it.
