It's only 16 minutes and the first quarter is two guys bitching about their iPhone battery life and saying that other areas of tech improve at a faster rate than batteries do. Then they talk to some guy at Stanford who is working on putting more lithium into batteries to get more use out of batteries. But the tech is years away from being ready for the consumer market. Then they talk to a guy from Tesla about making batteries cheaper by putting all the parts and processes to make a battery under one roof. It ends with them saying that the big advance in batteries right now is not lasting longer but charging faster.

Sorry. I was posting from my phone when I was listening to the podcast and when I said "Share" and "Copy Link", I didn't realize it copied a link to iTunes.

Cliffs: Batteries are going to continue to suck in the near future. There is no magic cure. Research is ongoing but a radical solution to battery life improvement is years away from fruition. Until then OEMs are limited to trying to shove as big a Lithium Ion battery as physically possible in smart phones, tablets, laptops and cars.
