need suggestions on a new tablet

I currently own the first Ipad air. I will be giving it to my brother soon as a gift, so I will be looking for another tablet soon.
The only thing I really use a tablet for is web browsing and viewing word documents, pdfs, power points for studying, etc. I dont play games on them. I like to stand and walk around while on it, so light weight is my #1 priority. I need something lighter than the ipad air, which I found to be uncomfortable after holding it for 5-10 minutes. I would like to keep the screen size around the 9-10 inches, but at a lighter weight than the air if possible. I realize I may have to settle for something a little smaller if I want the lighter weight.
Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I was in the same boat as you when I decided to get rid of my iPad Air. I reluctantly purchased an iPad Mini and couldn't be happier. I have the same uses as you when it comes to the tablet and the mini has been nice to have. No regrets whatsoever with the smaller screen.

FWIW, the iPad Air 2 is shockingly lighter. Its almost absurdly thin.
I've got mine in one of these
And have no issue detaching it and walking around with it.

The Xperia Z4 hasn't been released yet but it's lighter than the iPad Air 2 which is lighter than the iPad Air. The biggest Kindle Fire is also lighter than the iPad Air. Outside of that you'll probably be looking at mini tablets.

thanks a lot
I've been thinking the mini is what I'm looking for, but I keep thinking I will miss the larger display
