need help regarding malfunctioning micro SD card for my S5

As the title suggests, my phone was completely frozen this morning, and when I tried to restart it, it could not read the micro SD card in my phone anymore. I tried plugging the phone into the computer as well as using my micro SD to USB connector to plug it directly into my PC, and neither allowed me to access the data on the SD card. Is there any way that I can recover the files on it before trying to format it or getting a new card?

Try turning off the phone, remove SD card, replace, then restart phone. This happened to my s5 a few times.
