My Q smart garage with Alexa using IFTTT

How much of a pain is this going to be to set up? Never used IFTTT before. Anyone with experience?

Why can’t you just use their app, pair with your WiFi and be done with it. Took me like 10 minutes to do mine and then about 5 to hook one up for my dad.

Because for some people, the "struggle" is more important. It's like someone building a car. It's a lot easier, and frankly, a hell of a lot cheaper to buy a car than to build one, but there are tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of people who do that.

I’ve done that and we are using the app. But I’d like to be able to control it with Alexa voice control also.

because the OP assumed like 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of other smart doodads he could just enable the skill in alexa and use his voice to close his garage door from his bed.
not myq though! this is apparently 'risky behavior'.
gotta pay that monthly fee and rig up something retarded in IFTTT to do something that in 2021, every other smart vendor allows without a bunch of bullshite.
next time get a NEXX or roll your own with a zwave controller.
btw i'm done with IFTTT. steaming pile of shite. once upon a time i probably had 2 dozen 'recipes' but like google slowl crippling chromecast, they took a once promising idea and ran it into the ground by taking away things that worked just fricking fine for years.
god forbid i set up a recipe in IFTTT to send me a notification if something pops up on ebay or craigslist.
that sweet bot action is reserved for the elites who know how to program large scale farming to grab ALL the PS5s when they show up in inventory and stupid fools like myself aren't allowed the same privilege.
