My computer is stuck at the boot screen. it will show the Alienware logo with the circle 'spinning' and then after a long while will go into a repair mode..that never comes.

i have the ability to run a diagnostic check and everything checked out

it's brand new (1 week old) and i'm running windows 10 (factory OS was win8)

i have no issues restoring the computer to its factory settings, but i don't know how from this screen

*Update: I know it's frick and i am attempting a clean reinstall of win10 via USB i created on another computer. when I hit F12 at the boot screen I get the boot option of the USB...but then it starts up only to go back to the boot screen in the loop. what am i doing wrong?

it's just my boot screen with "Preparing Automatic Repair"

is there a way to restore the computer to factory default from the boot screen?

I'm creating a Windows 10 boot USB

there's no way to just go back to factory settings?

i just got the computer and have nothing of consequence on it, so i don't care if it's wiped back (so no i didn't make recovery media)

If you legitimately have no data on it, just use another pc to download and run the windows 10 media creation tool. It will let you make a installation cd or usb drive. You could probably fix your existing install but if there's no data it would probably be easiest to just reinstall

What OS did it come with? If it had 7/8 on it and you upgraded ms basically keeps track of your hardware id and you shouldn't need a serial. If it came with 10 I'm not really sure how they handle it but if you would need one then if imagine it would be on the computer itself or on some other documentation.

This must be a Windows 10 update issue. I rebooted my PC and it installed some updates and I had the same issue. I was able to get to the options to revert to factory settings, but that was the only thing that would fix it.

sorry to hear man...

for future reference, one could always use an external cd drive...I know I know you got it all on usb.

just in case another option opens up for you in the future...

You needed to first create a bootable device out of the USB from another computer.

Then you needed to reorder the boot order in the BIOS setting to include or put USB first.
Once restarted it should try to boot from the USB first, if it doesnt then id say the there is an issue with the USB
