I wouldn't buy anything AS400 just because it's 2015. I mean how long will it be around, and when they switch what's the upgrade path?

Epicor is great for some industries I think. Make sure you get references in a business similar to yours.

It hasn't been called the AS/400 in many years. It's now just an operating system that shares a hardware platform with IBM's Unix servers. It will be around for a long time.

I have a control management system that operates multiple Unix, AS/400 (OS/400), Linux, Windows and OS X systems seamlessly with a single mouse and keyboard across as many as ten monitors. It's called MCMS. I was telling someone about it and instead of commenting on the cool control and GUI, he was like, "They don't even make AS/400 anymore. You don't know what you're talking about." Mmmmm? Okay.
