LifeProof Fre Power Charging Case Question

I recently got an iPhone 6 with the LifeProof Fre Power. I have never owned a mophie or any other charging case.
This might be a stupid question, but when I charge my phone with the case on does it charge both the phone and the case at the same time?
Or do I need to wait for the phone to fully charge and then it will start charging the case? Should I take the phone out of the case and charge them separately to make or go quicker?

Phone gets charged 1st then it charges case. Charging separately does charge them faster.
Using the battery case does decrease the life of your phone battery. Also like all batteries it has a shelf life. I don't know what lifeproof is but for mophie it was 500 charges.
