I'm interested in this as well. Whats the skinny on setting one up for streaming purposes? Is it better to set it up on the Router or have on FireTV for Kodi purposes? Ive done a little research and I think I am more confused at what I need. Does it effect Tablo, DTVN if installed on Router? I've read different reports on this.

I use IPVanish for Kodi. I had set it up on my router and it does cause issues with DTVN. You lose the locals. I had installed it on my router but have since removed it and only run it on my phone and fireTVs when streaming Kodi.

I work from home and already use a VPN daily so I was having issues with my work network and DTVN. That's why I just use the android app when I need it.

Thanks. That's answers a couple of my questions. So you sideloaded the app onto your fire device and turn it on when using kodi.. does it stay on until you de activate?

For iOS use, I would just download app and login?

IPVanish seems to be the one most compatible with fire tv from what I've read.

Here's a link that will take 25% off the price of IPV if anyone else is shopping around. LINK

Not sure on iOS since I don't own or use any apple products. Yes I sideloaded the app and it has settings that you can have it enable the VPN as soon as you start the device or when you launch the app. I have it set to automatically connect to the fastest US server when I launch the app.

Awesome. Would this also allow me to watch blacked out LSU games?

Haven't tried it, but it should since your ISP will think you are in a different region of the US.

This is how it works for Private Internet Access

Yes, but doesn't work on iOS for MLB.tv blackouts because it uses GPS to get your location. WatchESPN uses the IP location.

This was the other one I was looking into. Do you know if it loads onto fire tv as easy as vanish does?

This is what I use for my Apple products. Not sure of how it works with fire tv.

My question: Does running the VPN add a layer of privacy protection against the repeal of the internet privacy?

I use Opera Browser for computer and Opera Mini Browser for Android phone. Both have built-in ad blockers and desktop version has built-in VPN. Opera also offers a stand alone VPN application in the Google Play Store.

This helps when browsing the internet.

For all around protection, I use Private Internet Access (PIA). This is for a person that may dive into Usenet newsgroups, torrents, adult content, etc. and are wanting a very secure connection.

Yes. Your ISP won't be able to see what sites you visit, they will only be able to see that you are connected to your VPN provider. A good VPN provider doesn't keep logs either.

Appreciate the info. Just signed up for IPVanish and the login is very painless! Question, can employer IT employees see around these?

I would imagine your employer's Network staff will block your access to a VPN or look very suspiciously at your need to access a VPN

Maybe so.. but in theory, they couldn't tell who it was, right?

I don't look at much while at work Mostly TD and Reddit.. just curious as to how this works.

Burger King is lenient on us. Things are really looking up since the buyout.
