I've had several types. Netgear. Linksys. D-Link. Buffalo.

They've all given me problems.

I ended up with an apple airport extreme and its been fricking awesome. Never an issue in two years. Not one drop.

Unfortunately you can't set up this thing for VPN client. Or I would keep it.

Been looking at several ASUS.

This is a dumb question.

If my router has the capabilities to turn on a VPN then do I still need to get VPN software?

I'm ignorant on all this despite reading this thread

Yes. You have to still pay for a VPN service.

Be careful though. Make sure your router is able to be a VPN client. Many say VPN but they mean a VPN server.

Do some research on your router to make sure it can be used as a client before trying to set on up

The ones I've looked into are not free.

Someone has to pay for that server you are connecting to that will "whitewash" your IP address from the internet
