Searched and couldn't find anything.

Got a fire stick and I am currently watching through Exodus. I've tried playing with the settings and adding a subtitle add-on, but I can't get forced subtitles for non English languages. Seems it's all or nothing for subtitles. Can anyone point me to a setup guide or know what needs to be done?

TIA

i'm not sure what you're asking.

you enable subtitles and select the subtitle site (can't remember the name but i think its the default) and when the show starts up you get a list of like 40 subtitles to choose from every time you start a movie or show.

if you want to disable them, hit the round circle on the amazon remote then navigate to the speaker icon and select it, then scroll down to 'subtitles enabled' and uncheck it.

my default behavior is to always pull in subtitles by default because i have a 2yo and its a luxury to have the tv volume up loud enough to hear the dialog.

generally the default one works but sometimes i have to go down the list to find one that's in sync.

I get all that. I'm trying to get subtitles to show for foreign sections of an English show and only those sections. Is it possible or do I have to keep subtitles on the entire show?

ETA: after watching GOT on another stream it seems some show them and some don't.

I have never heard of this being an option ever anywhere.

me either. i think those 'subtitles' are actually baked into the movies already and sometimes the movie or show doesn't provide subtitles (see the Gloria rants on Modern Family) because they figure by their actions & tone of voice you get what they're saying.

Yeah I get what he's saying though. Like Game of Thrones has hard coded subs for the dothraki language, but sometimes when you watch online they just aren't on the stream. Narcos seems to be the same way, but I don't actually have netflix so I'm not sure of that one.

You could always go and get Rosetta Stone, and come back and watch later.

This.

Guess it's stream source dependent.

That's correct. Especially for the new movies on Exodus and sometimes on Phoenix.

ETA: And almost always in Chinese for some reason
