iPhone 5 got wet while at the beach a few weeks ago (while in a life proof case) and I've pretty much tried everything to resurrect it with no luck. Besides being an a-hole and bitching about it to Lifeproof, is there anything I could do with the phone? Will people buy them in this condition for parts maybe?

I wonder if the rice method applies here.

You could get something for it on ebay if you have no other options.

Bitching about it to Lifeproof isn't being an a-hole. It's supposed to be waterproof.

Yeah someone will buy it for a little bit on eBay to salvage usable parts. But with salt water damage a few weeks ago, you might not get much.

Do they not offer a warranty..?

They offer a warranty on the case itself, but not the phone. I'd imagine if they covered every $800 phone, they'd probably lose a lot of money. You could wrap a phone in bullet proof glass and some idiots would still manage to break them.

I washed one of my first ones in the dishwasher once, threw that baby in rice for a few days... Was good as new. Ended up making a profit on ebay when I upgraded

It's not completely useless. You'd be surprised how hard it is to find a good paper weight these days.

Just incase anyone was curious, I managed to pull $100 for the water damaged 32GB iPhone 5 on craigslist. Guy said he was just going to sell or use all of the good parts left on the phone.

I'm cool with that.

Can we circle back around to why you would buy a $100 case that doesn't protect your phone..

Well I got an employee discount and paid $35 for it.

Also, can you name a better case than Lifeproof for that price? If I'm going to buy a case to protect my phone, I'm going to buy the one that has the best odds in doing so.

How'd that work out for you...Seriously though, shouldn't a case, no matter the price, that advertises all these features live up to the hype..?

I use an HTC One, so I don't use a case..

I'm sure his case worked great for when he accidentally dropped it. Not sure he bought it in case he accidentally dropped it in water.

The major selling point of Lifeproof cases is that they're waterproof.

I bet you bought a car that doesn't have airbags. You know, since they NEVER work and save lives or anything.

That case has saved my phone from disaster so many times, it is crazy. lasted almost two years without water damage or a scratch (still doesn't have a scratch)
