Its my MIL's computer in another state so I have to do this through her eyes. She has no idea about computers except how to power up and click. She is in the mountain's of NC and supposedly has a fiber optic line to her computer (no TV, just internet through a modem). I have tried this with her:

1.Open Internet Explorer for the desktop.
2.Tap or click the Tools button , and then tap or click Internet options.
3.On the Advanced tab, select Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering.
4.Tap or click OK, and then restart Internet Explorer for the changes to take effect.

It worked once and then it went back to the "Internet has stopped working" message. Then I had her reset in the Advanced tab of Internet Options and it worked but reverted back to the message. What can cause this and what can I do to assist her?
