I need help in solving Bluetooth issue

Here is a screen capture of the problem I'm having:
Last night I had put away my bluetooth headphones without realizing they were still on and while I had my laptop out, I wanted to listed to a video but I used some earbuds instead.
So, to listen to the video, I opened the bluetooth manager in the system tray and clicked on the slider to turn off bluetooth (I'm using Windows 8.1) and that allowed audio through the earbuds.
I didn't turn off the laptop and have it to power off the display and the laptop at 15 minutes and 1 hour respectively. Today, I logged-in to the laptop and retrieved the headphones and noticed the light on the headphones was solid blue. Normally it's flashing intermittently about one second apart.
Now it flashes constantly while trying to connect and the bluetooth icon has not displayed in the system tray at all today.

Try uninstalling the device driver and reinstalling.

Time to throw it into the fireplace and order a new one.
