How To Improve Router Signal Stength

My router is about two years old now. It used to work fine until ~6 months ago. When gaming, I'd have constant 22 download and 5 upload but since it'll randomly drop to 11 download and something under 1mbps. It makes sports games awful to play and shooters slow from time to time. Loading pages on internet usually isn't "bad" but it can take a few seconds to load up from time to time.

If there are other networks nearby, there's an app called WiFi Analyzer that will show you the channels they are all using, and you can change your router to the least congested. If the device will take a wired connection, you could consider using a powerline adapter.

I second the wifi analyzer because even at 11/1 that is plenty fast for any games. It is unlikely you need to replace your router, you just need need to move the wifi to another channel.
During these periods have you checked any devices that are hard wired. Just to verify this is not an ISP issue. I would be more interested in the latency.

You need to distinguish between the speed of your internet connection as delivered by your ISP and the speed of your internal wireless connection. Go to your wireless connections
Right click and select status to find the actual wireless speed between your computer and the router
Your wireless speed should be at least 50Mbps depending on the router capability, i.e., number of antennas, protocol N or AC, and the capability of your wireless card.
