I really want a rooted android device. Does anyone know where I can find one. I can not root my current devices since current software prevents it.

If you buy one on swappa the buyer may root it for you if you ask. Most sellers will sell the phone as stock and leave it to the buyer to root. First find the phone you want and then look into if it can be rooted. If I was buying an Android phone now it would be the Nexus 6P or Oneplus 3 and both can be rooted very easily.

I believe all the Nexus phones are unlocked. I just picked up a Nexus 5X in mint condition on Swappa for $115.

rooting isn't that hard. what is your current device? i can walk you through it on several phones.

Buy them already rooted from eBay.

I'm rocking the Verizon Galaxy S7 edge and sadly there is no root for it yet :\

Is rooting the same as unlocked?

No, unlocked is for carrier. Meaning you could use it on different carriers as long as the radio was supported CDMA/GSM.

no, you need to unlock in order to root.

unlocking is generic and straightforward and enables you to do things such as rooting to your phone.

rooting is akin to having admin access on your PC..gives you the ability to edit the core functionality without the built-in protection of a non-rooted phone.

google has always been very open to the dev community by allowing a relatively painless to basically rewrite the phone software to encourage innovation and custom ROMs.

however i feel like now that android is now pretty much on the same level as iphones, they may start limiting who and how on this. rooting is fun but can also be incredibly dangerous by allowing ransomware or a virus easy access to run roughshod all over your device.

My current phone is a Samsung Galaxy S5 Active

I tried looking for guides, but the recent software updates won't allow root.
