Can't hear shite especially when watching movies or streaming. How can I adjust it to hear conversation better?

It seems to be a common problem depending on the movie/TV production, your sound system, your settings and your hearing. I'm deaf in one ear and don't have good detection of high pitched sounds in the other ear. Try setting the treble all the way up and reducing the bass. Higher bass balance can be better for music but can drown out voices which seem to more in the treble range. I also use subtitles when available so I can see the dialogue. And yes, I know, old people problems.

You and me in the same boat. Hearing problems from working in loud shops and too many concerts. Started using close caption also.

I don't think its my tv or equalizer. The tv show and movie producers are just being cheap on the sound

this.
i have a 19mo so by the time we get around to watching tv my surround system is ueless and i'm reduced to straining to hear dialog because the last thing we want to do is wake him up.
without closed captioning i'd give up on watching TV altogether.

are you listening through the TV speakers, or do you have a surround system? some tv's have built-in eq's that are set up for "movies", "music", and "dialogue". but if you're listening through the surround system, you could try different speaker configurations on your receiver. if i'm having trouble hearing dialogue, i'll switch the receiver to "multi-channel" or "multi-speaker" mode where it plays the same volume through all the speakers at the same time, as opposed to a 5.1 or 7.1 setup that is playing dialogue through the center channel only.
sometimes you can change the settings the streaming device itself, like a fire tv or fire stick. in another room i have a smaller tv with a small soundbar. i was having trouble hearing dialogue, but music and explosions in movies were coming through incredibly loud. i ended up changing the settings on the fire tv to always be in stereo mode instead of it trying to emulate a 5.1 setup through a single soundbar. it helped a lot and really evened out the volume of the dialogue and sound effects.
