I’m upgrading monitors at my home office. The current employer-supplied docking station is a Thinkpad USB-C hub with DisplayPort connections. The new monitors I’m buying have hdmi. I see hdmi/displayport converters. I also see cheap usb-c docking stations on Amazon. A replacement Thinkpad docking station with hdmi ports is more $$ than the 2 monitors. What’s the Tech board recommendation?

Most of the cheap docking stations don't have power delivery, so you'll have to plug in your laptop as well.

I'd just buy 2 display port adapters or hmdi to display port cables for the new monitors. You can find the cables for around $10 on Amazon.

If you know your dock has Display Port, why buy monitors with HDMI?

You should be able to by monitors with both HDMI and DP for about the same cost of whatever you are buying.

Link to monitor?

You can get display port to hdmi cables. Granted display port can support higher resolutions and any new decent monitor should have them

Yep. I foolishly had it in my head that DP was archaic. I changed the order to monitors with both. Thanks for the help.
