My current WiFi is junk. I've looked at 'all-in-one' setups but I'm really interested in what I may need for a Ubiquiti setup.

Current devices:
Desktop Computer(wired)
PS3(wired)
Television(wired)
ChromeCast(wireless)
2 Smartphones(wireless)

Home is roughly 1500 sq ft. I hope 1 Unifi AC Pro (PoE connected) will be enough wireless coverage. In the near future I'd like to add a NAS or server to store files with the ability to access them from anywhere. Also, I like to use Plex to stream from the desktop to my phone or PS3.

What others equipment besides the wireless access point would you recommend? How difficult would this be to set up with the Ubiquiti software?

For now, you have a free port on your router to accommodate the UniFi AP. In the future when you add your NAS, you'll need to pick up a switch.

I suggest you mount the UniFi to the ceiling in the middle of your home and run a cat5e cable back to your router. It's pretty easy to do if you're comfortable crawling around your attic.

The Ubiquiti software isn't hard to use.

Thanks man.

Say I wanted to ditch the current router. What would be the ideal setup to accommodate what I have and the possible NAS?

Router + switch ?

In that case, I'd just go with an 8-port router.

A centrally located Unifi AP will cover you just fine. My modem and switch sits in my entertainment center (center of the house). I just ran the cat5 from switch to the Unifi and set it on top of the entertainment center.

Full coverage in house as well as outside. I can actually get 2 bars on my IPhone across the street.
