So i have recorded a training at work with a surface pro, windows 8. I try and open that file with windows 7 media player and i get an error (windows media player cant play the file type. The player might not support file type.) it is a mp4 video file. What can i do to make this work? It is a training video that will need to be available for all
employees at roughly 70 computers running windows 7.

You will need either the proper codecs or an alternative media player like VLC ,Light Alloy.
Seeing that you have 70 computers I would suggest you convert the file to a wmv file. You do it here online for free Zamzar - video converterZamzar - video converter
